Who We Are
Dual mission, one single goal:
financing social economy enterprises
The principal mission of the Chantier de l’économie sociale Trust has been to foster the expansion and development of collective enterprises by increasing their access to financing and enhancing the capitalization of social economy enterprises.
The Chantier Trust pursues its mission by creating innovative patient capital financial products and encouraging the involvement of private and public sector partners.

Overview
Crafted to improve access to financing for social economy enterprises
Created in 2006 through an initiative from the Chantier de l’économie sociale, the Chantier Trust blazed a new path in its creation of the first patient capital fund to support start-up and expansion projects from social economy enterprises in Quebec, as well as their real estate investments.
The project’s ultimate goal was to implement a financial intermediary that would be able to design mixed funds (public and private) to diversify the financing available to social economy enterprises.
Developed to complement other financing in financing packages, its products are part of the solidarity finance landscape by supporting major projects with larger needs in terms of capital.
A key actor in the solidarity finance world
Over the years, the Chantier de l’économie sociale Trust has developed cutting-edge expertise in the creation and management of specialized patient capital financial products dedicated entirely to social economy enterprises, in particular through its implementation of organizational structures whose operations it oversees.
Thanks to its investment partners, each motivated by the same objective of supporting innovating solutions through tailor-made funds, the Chantier Trust is able to share its knowledge and act as an initiator, manager and operator of the associated funds.
For this reason, it’s able to offer multiple financing possibilities through its patient capital financial products and its specialized funds, both associated and managed, developed with and for its investment partners.
The Financial Tools of the Chantier
More specifically, the Trust works closely with the Réseau d’investissement social du Québec, which was also developed by the Chantier de l’économie sociale in 1997.
These two organizations are the Financial Tools of the Chantier de l’économie sociale. Implemented to provide promotor support “From idea to action”, the range of their financial products address every step and need for collective enterprises.
From the very creation of the Chantier Trust, the team of financial analysts at RISQ were given the mandate of analyzing the financing applications received by the Trust.
